Sodom and G'America

Perilous times arrived some time ago in our great country.  Daily, it seems, Christians are losing freedoms, while criminals are set free, and sometimes labeled as heroes.  Those who dare to stand against the "woke," are castigated or cancelled.  Men say they are women, women claim to be men, and children are being sacrificed to further this ideology.  People are afraid to stand up for what’s right because wrong is so prevalent.  Ungirded Christians are weary, beat down, and are often deceived into believing that truth is false, and good is bad.  With the pollution of the media, the constant barrage of "political correctness" and the sea of deception we are in up to our necks, its all too easy to feel quite misplaced.

We are not alone in this chaos.  We serve a patient, loving, longsuffering, kind, all knowing God, and He really is in control!  His understanding is unsearchable.  But He is also a jealous God and He fully expects us to serve Him, even in mounting adversity.  Yes, we are surrounded by the enemy, we must not forget that our battle isn’t with flesh and blood, but with the wicked powers of this dark world.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  ~Ephesians 6:13-17 NIV

Don’t get caught in combat unarmed, or be off guard when the enemy aims his darts at you.  Memorize scripture, you need to have a good reserve built up.  Take time to faithfully study the Word of God, which is our sword, and spend personal time with Him.  The Lord told Abraham he would not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah for the sake of ten righteous people.  Be one of the ten in Sodom and G'America!  Reconsider watching movies and TV shows that promote evil.  Remember that sexual immorality, vampires, and wizards are not of God. Vulgar language pollutes us.  Choose to not listen to music that glorifies ungodly behavior.

Psalm 13:3-6 (KJV)

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God:
lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him;
and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
But I have trusted in thy mercy;
my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
I will sing unto the Lord,
because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Be the light of the world...
  • Choose uplifting words instead of arguments.
  • When you see the need, help someone.
  • Hold a door open, be kind, smile.
  • Be patient, even when someone is making mistakes at your expense.
  • When you make bad choices, admit it, fix it, and turn away from it.

  1. I went over to the Post this morning and read your article. Very good! I loved the: "Be one of the ten."

    I tried to leave a comment over there, but I forgot my password (I usually record those tings, but I must have thought it was so simple I'd remember it.) and I did click the little "Forgot password" link, but nothing happened. I'll travel over again and see if I can do it as soon as I have time. (My computer is being very slow right now.)

    That "Be one of the ten." has gone thru my mind all day.

  2. I so agree with what you said, Meg. I'm terrible about praying for our country. Maybe I'll make that a resolution for the new year. I'm glad God is in control and we ultimately will win, even though we might lose a skirmish or two.

    Merry Christmas!
